Small Businesses

As a small business owner, you should be enjoying the fruits of your labor, not living paycheck-to-paycheck. Reaching your financial goals is only possible if you have a way to measure your current situation and monitor your progress. Proper bookkeeping ensures your financial reports are accurate and are a necessity if you want to grow your business.

Nonprofit

Nonprofit Organizations have multiple reporting requirements that can make it difficult to set up your accounting system. Reports need to be useful for management and the board to make decisions, as well as being able to track expense categories for preparing the 990. In addition to that, they usually need to track various grants and other programs individually.  We can help you make sure your QuickBooks is set up with the best configuration to meet your needs and we can be a resource for you when you have a question.

My knowledge of bookkeeping, payroll, auditing, and taxes, combined with my experience with mom-and-pop shops, service-based business, large and small nonprofits, and local government units has prepared me to assist you. I know how important your time is, and that’s why I want to help. You can quit spending your precious time stumbling through QuickBooks, filing receipts, or reconciling statements and spend more time doing the things you enjoy with the people you love.

Meet Katie Redman, CPA

When my full-time job in public accounting started taking too much time away from my family, I knew I needed to make a change. I left public accounting to become Director of Finance at a nonprofit with nearly 400 employees. It allowed me to be home more often, but many evenings my brain would still be at work. I left my job to focus on my family while my children were young. Now that they are older and more independent, I have the availability and flexibility to do what I enjoy – accounting!

My husband and I bought an old farm in central Illinois in 2015 and our two kids are enjoying the country life. They have their favorite “dirt spots” and are learning how to care for chickens. When the weather is nice (and sometimes when it’s not) you can find us outside riding ATVs in the old pastures, picking blackberries, or attempting to grow vegetables in the garden.

I love popcorn (stove-top, not that microwave stuff), shrimp, and all things carbs. I’m a spreadsheet junkie and love learning new tricks and formulas in Excel. Most evenings and weekends you can find me relaxing while reading in my hammock or just listening to the trees blow in the wind and watching the sunset.

  • Katie has adapted the QuickBooks program to meet accounting and government standards for townships. She will help at any level you need and is a very patient trainer. Her procedure manual has easy to follow steps. It is nice to have the accounting aspect explained and IT help, also. The township I work for chose to have the previous 6 months data entered from previous software, which was a tremendous advantage.
